Summer is coming, and it's time for choosing vintage swimsuits! Hard yet exciting, right? Vintage fashion is your best friend forever, and now you just have to choose your favorite silhouette and style to have a nice summer! Retro swimwear, long sleeve swimsuit, high waisted bikini, vintage swim dress, modest swim dress, tankini, hurry up and pay homage to the past summer by wearing vintage style swimsuits from Retro Stage!

Over the centuries, swimsuits have changed in various shapes and sizes, and those classic styles, such as striped, plaid, navy, and polka dots, have become the mainstream of retro swimsuits!

So, how to choose a perfect retro swimsuit?

Tip 1:Know Yourself and Embrace Your Imperfections

We've divided your body into four lovely fruits: pear, apple, banana, and hourglass. Check out which one you fall into.

Pear

If your hips are significantly larger than your waist and bust, you're probably a pear. Use the distraction to balance your chest and hips. Tops with frills and ruffles make your bust look wider and visually balance your figure

You can also cover your hips with a beautiful skirted swimsuit.

The 3pcs retro bikini set can meet your needs for both underwater and waterside. When you leave the pool, wrap a skirt around your hips as a nice cover.

Apple

Apples are usually fuller in the middle. If your waist is significantly wider than your hips and close to your bust, you're a cute little apple. Deep V-Neck swimsuits subtly create a small pretty waist. Or opt for a less deep V-neck.

Banana

If you're thin overall and there's not much difference between your waist, hips, and bust, you're a banana girl. Creating curves is the key! A one-piece with a unique design at the waist can shape and strengthen your figure.

Swimsuits with prints, bright patterns, and ruffles also add glamour to your figure.

Adding a pattern to your top can draw attention!

Hourglass

If your bust and hips are roughly the same widths, but your waist is significantly smaller, you have a typical hourglass figure. You'd put yourself right up there with Marilyn Monroe and Brigitte Bardot! You can even choose any vintage-style

a swimsuit you want. We recommended choosing a top with an underwire and adjustable straps to support and secure your bust. Try these classic vintage patterns with plaid and polka dots to show your stunning on the beach!

If you want to cover up other parts in your figure that you are not so satisfied with, follow the second tip mentioned below!

Tip 2: How to Find the Perfect Style for Your Figure

Vintage swimsuits of different colors and styles will bring you different dressing effects. Now check out our tips for choosing the right style of swimsuit!

  • Choose bright colors or patterns to highlight areas you're satisfied with and solid colors to hide areas you're less happy with.
  • If you want to increase the size of your bust or hips, choose a swimsuit that has pleats or rufflesin those areas.
  • A one-piece swimsuit can cover the waist fat.
  • A two-piece swimsuit will accentuate your waist, and if you're satisfied with your waist, just do it.
  • A retro highwaisted bikini can hide your tummy and make your legs look longer.

Tip 3: How to Wash and Care for Your Swimsuit

Congratulations, you have found the perfect vintage swimsuit! But it's also important to know how to wash and care for your swimsuit properly. Some chemicals are put into pools to fight bacteria, pathogens, and other harmful substances to keep the pool clean, but this can be very unfriendly to our swimsuits. Chemicals like sunscreen can also damage swimsuits’ color and elasticity. So you need to take proper care of your swimsuit and make sure that you wash it thoroughly so that it will be in good condition the next time you use it! Good swimsuits care helps remove germs and is good for you too!

  • If you apply sunscreen all over your body, wait until it is half dry before putting on your swimsuit. Keep the shoulder straps out of the way when applying sunscreen, as continuous sunscreen buildup can cause the straps to lose their elasticity. Perfumes, deodorants, and tanning lotions can also damage elasticity and stain your swimsuit, so make sure you wash your swimsuit thoroughly after use.
  • After putting on the swimsuit, avoid sitting on rough objects, such as concrete, sand, rocks, etc., which may wear down the swimsuit’s
  • Wet the swimsuit with clean water before going into the water. For your swimsuit, it has been filled with clean water, so it will not absorb so much chlorinated water, which can reduce the corrosion of the swimsuit by the pool water and increase the use of the swimsuit life.
  • Anyway, if you're going on holiday or wearing a swimsuit regularly, you will need more than one swimsuit to change.Allow each swimsuit to recover within 24 hours so that it will remain elastic and flexible when worn again.
  • After wearing the swimsuit, we should also pay attention to washing the body before taking off the swimsuit, to avoid sand and other chemical products into the swimsuit.
  • Wash your swimsuit thoroughly after each use. Because your sunscreen is waterproof, and deodorants and tanning lotions are stubborn, these chemicals build up in your swimsuit, eroding elasticity and discoloring fabrics. You need more than just put in clear water and stir. Hand washeswith a neutral detergent (such as body wash) for 10 minutes, or with a special swimsuit cleaner.
  • Do not wash swimsuits in hot water, high temperature will damage clothing fibers and damage clothing elasticity. If you enjoy hot baths, we recommend that you change your swimsuit regularly.
  • Do not use a washing machine or bleach. The washing machine can stretch and damage bras and linings.
  • Don't wring out your swimsuit too hardafter washing, it's okay to have a little extra water.
  • Dry your swimsuit in the shade. Swimsuits should not be exposed to the hot sun, so as not to harden the fabric and affect the service life.
  • After summer is over, remember to wash your swimsuit thoroughly one last time to make sure all chemical residues and stains have been washed away. Then place it in a ventilated place with your other summer clothes.
